Teeth whitening is a safe and effective way to improve the shade of teeth to a lighter shade without harming the teeth.
It removes the staining agent through chemical means. It is a safe procedure when carried out under professional supervision. Treatment results usually depend on the severity of the discolouration. Both vital (i.e. live) and non-vital teeth (e.g. tooth with root canal treatment completed) can be bleached and may take several visits to complete. It is not effective on dental restorations such as amalgam fillings, metal or porcelain crowns, etc.
The process involves minimal intervention, and is very simple. A set of whitening trays are made which fit tightly around your teeth. A specially formulated whitening gel with built in desensitiser and whitening agents is placed into the whitening trays. Depending on your preference, we offer a day time whitening, night time whitening or in-house Zoom whitening.
All of these options provide excellent results and are simple to use. We use the fabulous Zoom Whitening system for home and in-house whitening.
Your dentist will recommend the most ideal method based on your oral condition after an in-practice examination to establish the cause and nature of your tooth discolouration, as well as provide you with more information on the various types of whitening procedures available, duration & frequency of treatment.
